What is it about?
User authentication using biometrics is getting more attention, especially for wearable devices. Traditional ways of authenticating the user via wearable devices possess a limitation. Therefore, to our best understanding, for the first time in this work, we introduce EarPPG that leverages in-ear PPG signals to authenticate the user when the user speaks different activation words (i.e., 'Hey Siri', or 'Ok Google'). Through multiple comprehensive evaluations, we successfully demonstrate that the EarPPG is a promising tool that can easily be embedded in smart wearable devices.
