What is it about?

We conducted a survey where we asked Computer Science preservice teachers, who just learned about different teaching methods, which methods they preferred. We compare these results to in-service Computer Science teachers' opinions from a former study.

Why is it important?

Teaching methods are an important part of Computing Education. Comparing in-service teachers' experiences and preservice teachers' expectations can help improving teacher training and teacher education in Computer Science.

Perspectives

This was a very small study with our own students. The results are surprising as we wouldn't have expected that much differences between preservice teachers and in-service teachers in Computer Science Education. The German Informatics classrooms still show a lack of methodological variety, so we hope that this research can contribute to the design of our courses regarding teaching methods in Informatics.
