What is it about?

In this panel, Black Computer Science (CS) teachers and faculty share their perspectives on what is needed to encourage Black teachers to teach CS, as well as barriers to participation and what Black CS teachers need to feel supported and included in a field in which they are severely underrepresented.

Why is it important?

Black teachers need supportive spaces and culturally responsive career development opportunities to provide culturally responsive pedagogy and andragogy that affirm Black students and increase diverse participation in the field.

Perspectives

It was a pleasure collaborating with this diverse group of Black CS educators to communicate their varied perspectives about what's needed to increase diversity among those teaching and learning CS.
