What is it about?

This work is about meta-interactivity and about how to establish different forms of relation between computational systems and individuals, in order to empower them to achieve complex outcomes they believe they are not capable of, such as music composition, in a playful way.

Why is it important?

Our experiments with a population of musical experts and novices has shown that novices were able to learn and create high-quality musical productions through our interactive approach. We also discussed the human factor in computational music, identifying to what extent it is possible to abstract human aspects, such as sentiment, from algorithmic music.

Perspectives

I hope this work can contribute to new ways of thinking and designing interactive experiences, such as games and art installations, improving knowledge about immersion and the general behavior of an audience engaged in interactive experiences.
