What is it about?
Opportunistic networks are a special case of networks, where for example smartphones connect directly to each other to exchange some information. A well-known example is FireChat and some of the Covid-19 contact tracking applications. Many different algorithms and protocols have been developed in this area, but it is still very hard to compare your work against the work of others. This is where benchmarks kick in - we offer a simulation environment, where you can test your algorithm against others in several different scenarios, like different cities. We speak about a benchmark when you cannot change the parameters of the simulation - all algorithms are tested under the same, possibly hard, conditions and the comparison is fair. This is very important in order to identify really good solutions and to make opportunistic networks more usable and practical.
