What is it about?

This work is based on a literature review of 22 articles from various conference and journal venues published between 2014-2019 on the topic of older adults' digital literacy. In this work, we report findings from a detailed understanding of the issues that demotivate older adults from learning digital skills. In addition, we present our view of how we think older adults' technology adoption could be shaped by experiences of coping with challenges in learning digital skills.

Why is it important?

This work comes when the world is witnessing a rapid rise in the "digital divide" between people with and without digital access. In summarising the issues facing older adults in learning skills to operate technologies effectively, this work intends to make a timely contribution to creating social and technological "fixes" to reduce the chances that the negative consequences of the digital divide might affect older adults.
