What is it about?

We've created a new way for people to edit text while they're on the move without looking down at their phones. Our solution, called EYEditor, uses smart glasses that display the text in front of your eyes. You can edit this text using voice commands or a special ring-like mouse you wear on your finger.

Why is it important?

People send and receive a massive number of texts and perform other text-based tasks every day. But using a mobile phone often requires looking down, which can be unsafe and unhealthy. We've often seen folks referred to as "smartphone zombies" because they're always staring at their screens, unaware of their surroundings. This can lead to accidents, poor posture, and other health issues. Our solution tries to fix these problems by letting people interact with text in a way that's safer and doesn't require them to look down.

Perspectives

We believe that the traditional method of editing text on mobile phones, while useful, has its drawbacks. The prevalence of people constantly looking down at their phones is alarming. There's a need for a solution that allows for efficient text editing but also keeps the user engaged with their surroundings. Our innovative approach with EYEditor aims to fill this gap, using a combination of voice and manual input to make the process smooth and user-friendly. Through our research and experiments, we've gathered valuable insights and understandings to pave the way for future technologies in this direction.
