What is it about?

QR code is a labelling technology normally used to identify and direct the user to a given digital content. QR Mirror and QR Stitchers are two interactive digital artworks, in which the QR code itself is the final object, exploring its morphological and aesthetical properties.

Why is it important?

Art has the power to question and to propose new perspectives and ideas to pre-existing paradigms. Digital Media Arts can be a particularly exciting area, exploring new technologies and resources in the development of new artworks that couldn't exist with previous means. Through creative coding and interactive technologies, the two installations invite the visitor to see the QR Code in new perspectives.

Perspectives

It was an interesting challenge to devise an artistic idea around such a funcional device like a QR code. Probably the most exciting aspect of creative coding and media art is the idea of creating an experience for the visitor and not "just" the object itself. Also in this case, it is super interesting to see how visitors react and interact with the installations. Most visitors were constantly trying to detect the codes with their phones, which was funny as these codes are constantly changing and as such they never link to any content.
