What is it about?
This concept paper is about a music robot that aims to rebuild connections. The article explains why music can be used to tackle social disconnection problems and how a music robot can be designed as an inclusive, flexible, personalized and affordable companion in people's daily life.

Why is it important?
Our work highlights the importance of listening to music for well-being and (re)building connections with others. The music robot Melodicca is more than a low-cost wheeled speaker. Its rich list of features is full of imagination yet grounded in realistic possibilities offered by technologies.
Perspectives
The process of creating Melodica is a great pleasure. I enjoyed the wild imaginations and the possibilities to make them true by combining diverse engineering techniques, such as electronic control, hardware design, software planning and human-robot interaction.
