What is it about?

The work shows that, whenever we add a like to a picture, people develop a personality impression about us. The relationship between visual characteristics of the images we like and attributed traits is tight enough to be predictable. In fact, an automatic approach can predict what others think of us with high accuracy.

Why is it important?

Besides confirming that our preferences (what we like) are associated to the image we convey, the article is important because it establishes a quantitative relationship between the images we like and the traits people attribute to us.

Perspectives

This publication is a nice example of interdisciplinary work involving computing science and psychology.
