What is it about?

A porphyrin dimer was prepared by coupling H2MHTPP and 1,4-dichloro-2,5-dinitrobenzene in a one-step synthesis. Its structure was established by a MALDI-TOF mass spectrum and its electrochemical and photochemical properties were investigated. Surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS) revealed that the porphyrin dimer is a p-type semiconductor.

Why is it important?

In summary, dimeric porphyrins based on the hydroxyphenyl porphyrin scaffold has been synthesized and are investigated by electrochemical and photochemical methods. The results are interpreted in terms of intra-molecular electron mechanisms.

Perspectives

we report results on the synthesis, spectral and photochemical properties of dimeric porphyrins based on the 5-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-10, 15, 20-triphenylporphyrin (H2MHTPP) scaffold.
