What is it about?
Protein Function is conserved in Protein domains. These are able to perform independent folding and are approximately conserved among species. A major goal in the study of proteins is the identification and characterization of domains and domain families. We have used methods of entropy calculation to that end.

Why is it important?
Some algorithms have appeared in the scientific literature to obtain information on domains from three-dimensional structure of proteins, but many of these results do not agree with those defined by expert biologists.
