What is it about?
This short review highlights recent trends from roughly 2010-2020 in using confinement effects to alter chemical reactivity within small molecular container molecules. The small molecular containers are usually formed from self-assembly of small molecular scaffolds or by the assembly of metals with organic molecules into cage-like structures that can encompass or encapsulate other "guest" molecules in a host-guest relationship. Upon encapsulation, the reactivity of the included guest may be altered allowing for interesting and novel chemical transformations.
