What is it about?
Medical students report a lack of knowledge and training to provide competent care for patients who identify as transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC). This study implemented a pre-clinical curriculum to target knowledge, attitudes, and skills for the treatment TGNC populations. Improvements were found in medical students' competency, knowledge, and skills, as well as an increase in experience role playing pronouns. Thus, there is a need for more medical schools to provide well-developed, gender-affirming healthcare curricula such as the one described in this study.
