What is it about?
Cardiac surgery or catheter interventions are nowadays commonly performed to abolish volume loading of the right ventricle (RV) in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). However, little is known, on the impact of such procedures on preexisting tricuspid regurgitation (TR). We present in this paper novel data suggesting RV volume offloading has a positive impact on tricuspid valve (TV) function, even amongst patients who did not undergo concomitant TV repair at the time of index intervention. Thus, it is possible that a proactive approach to PVR or ASD closure, before severe annular dilatation occurs, may reduce the need for tricuspid valve intervention
