What is it about?
We showed for the first time that the macrophage activation marker soluble CD163 is elevated in the blood in patients with chronic liver disease and associated with liver disease severity (Child-Pugh and MELD scores). More importantly, a high sCD163 level predict the prognosis for patients with liver cirrhosis.
