What is it about?
fluid therapy is a key component of patient management in many acute clinical scenarios, but the optimal strategy for every single patient is still debated; Up to now, no study has identified strong predictors of response to volemic filling. Our pilot study demonstrated for the first time that arterial stiffness, evaluated with cfPWV, reflects the ability of individuals to tolerate an intravascular fluid expansion; Our results suggest a potential role of cfPWV in identifying patients with different elastic reserve and guiding accordingly adjustment to fluid therapy to obtain a patient tailored approach leading to successful clinical management
