What is it about?

Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of infant mortality around the world. Recognizing prematurity is critical to attend to immediate needs in childbirth settings, guiding medical care for newborns. This protocol for multicenter clinical trial will validate a photometry device to estimate gestational age at birth and determine its accuracy in detecting prematurity. Preemie-Test, carried out with this device, is an innovative approach based on the interaction between light and the newborn's skin. Our team intends to offer a suitable product for health professionals, in low and medium-resources settings, during childbirth and in neonatal care settings.
