What is it about?
Medical devices used in neonatal intensive care units contain phthalates, which may leach into the environment. As neonates seem particularily vulnerable to this exposure, it seems crtitical to identify and limit it. This survey has shown that among senior neonatologists more than half are not aware of this issue. There is a need for research and education regarding environmental risks in the NICU.
