What is it about?
Research on the synthesis of various nanostructures has attracted much attention because of their size and shape-induced novel and physicochemical properties. Most of the nanoscale materials need small-size, narrow distribution and well-defined morphology to show their best character. Therefore many researchers focus on the design and shape-control of the desired nanostructures including metal, semiconductor, and metal oxide, to optimize these materials for applications.

Why is it important?
In recent years, using monodispersed nanoparticles as building units to assemble well-defined one and three-dimensional (1D and 3D) nanostructures, super-lattices have been actively investigated because of their novel properties and potential applications in optical gratings, optical filters, data storage, and microelectronic devices.
