What is it about?
We examined whether practice guidelines were written to conform with international guidelines by meeting certain suggested criteria for how guidelines should be written. Four different guidelines were evaluated and rated for completeness using the AGREE II assessment instrument.

Why is it important?
There is a lot of variation in how guidelines are written. Our assessment provides feedback to organizations that prepared the guidelines on strengths and weaknesses of the guidelines and may help in improving the guidelines when they are revised. It also allows the reader to understand where there are gaps in the guidelines.
