What is it about?
The whole genome sequences of the snow fly gut symbiont--Capniomyces stellatus, representing the best quality of genome assemblies of the gut fungi Harpellales so far
Featured Image
Why is it important?
1) The Capniomyces stellatus genome represents the first Harpellales (Kickxellomycotina) fungal genome with good quality (scaffolds No. < 100) for future research in gut fungi. 2) The host of C. stellatus, winter-emerging stonefly, is an evolutionary important insect that less frequently encountered except from Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee, USA. The whole genome sequences of its strict gut symbiont, C. stellatus, provides unique information and contributes to the big picture of insect-fungus symbiosis.
