What is it about?
In this editorial letter, we address the similarities and differences of Mycobacterium simiae epidemiology, symptomatology, resistance, and other characteristics between a study from Lebanon and a study from Reunion Island.

Why is it important?
Comparing both studies revealed notable differences in M. simiae infections, mainly related to infectivity, patient co-morbidities, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, radiographic findings, and drug susceptibility patterns. This highlights the importance of conducting research on this emerging pathogen from different parts of the world in order to expand our knowledge about it.
