What is it about?
Why people engage in physical activity might change with age. We have looked at the literature to identify what motivates and the barriers middle-aged and older adults encounter when being physically active. We look at the differences and similarities between these two age groups.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that there are differences between these two age groups as to what motivates them and the barriers they encounter to participate in physical activity. These difference need to be taken into consideration when people are trying to influence physical activity.
