Why is it important?

This paper outlines an application of McAdams' integrated personality framework that moves beyond a focus on traits to understand coaches' behaviour. It extends previous research to also consider personal strivings and narrative identity.

Perspectives

This the first paper to use a comprehensive and integrated personality framework (McAdams) to understand the person behind the coach - what are the deep driving forces that underpin why we do what we do. It was the pilot study for the ICCE Serial Winning Coaches project that I led (Mallett & Lara-Bercial, 2016).
