What is it about?
Many activities are taking place in public squares in Hong Kong. That include group dancing with music, practicing martial arts with or without the use of sticks and swords, playing sound generating instruments and devices, etc. But, how noisy are Hong Kong's public squares in the evening? This paper reports noise level measurements and some interviews conducted in three Hong Kong’s public squares.

Why is it important?
People wonder how noisy Hong Kong's public squares are in Hong Kong. We performed noise measurements and interviews in Hong Kong's public squares. Fortunately, we found that Hong Kong's Da Ma are quite considerate and they do not play music as loud as their counterparts in mainland China. Hence, passerby generally indicated that the noises emitted from group dancing activities were acceptable.
Perspectives
Da Ma dancing has been a concern in cities in China. We checked the situations in Hong Kong and found that noises emitted from group dancing are generally acceptable in Hong Kong's public squares.
