What is it about?
The way that a speech sound is produced depends on the nature of the surrounding speech sounds. Listeners are able to perceptually compensate for how coarticulation affects speech sounds. In this experiment, we investigated whether altering how a person produces a vowel can affect how that person categorizes a consonant sound when the interpretation of the consonant depends on the quality of the following vowel.
