What is it about?
In this work, we describe the main physical characteristics of plant samples achieved by using the group of metrics Indices of Polarimetric Purity (IPP). Moreover, we show how IPP highlights some structures hidden in regular intensity measurements, highlighting the potential of these metrics for botanical applications.

Why is it important?
The same as in any other form of matter, there are tissues and structures in plants that aren't perceptible to the naked-eye or to some standard optical measurements. With the IPPs, we hope to shed some light on new methods for tissue discrimination and structure observation, thus highlighting the complementarity (even the advantage in some cases) of polarimetric measurements.
