Why is it important?

A literature review reveals that smartphone science is more than just a fashion topic. In medicine and chemistry it is a rapidly expanding field. In Cultural Heritage smartphones are mainly related to application involving augmented reality or improvement of fruition. We show that artworks diagnostics by smartphones is possible and a very interesting option because of their large diffusion and relative low cost.

Perspectives

Last year I was visiting a museum in Amsterdam; it was a very natural action to use my smartphone to check the light level... I believe that smartphone science could open diagnostics possibilities (at least some of them) to restorers and small museums in very different contexts.
