What is it about?
It utilizes the cumulative phase retardation contrast of the PS-OCT, with a slope-based analysis, to distinguish the layers with different birefringence.

Why is it important?
Birefringence is a property sensitive to collagen organizations in bio-samples. By differentiating the layers with different birefringence, it will enhance the sensitivity of detecting any subtle collagen damage in related diseases, e.g. the osteoarthritis (OA).
