What is it about?
This investigation identified for the first time genes that were associated with protection from severe complications of COVID-19 infection. The results have been replicated in two subsequent independent studies. The paper was awarded the HLA research prize by the European Federation for Immunogenetics in 2022. The article has achieved an Altmetric score of 784, putting it in the top 0.1% of all research outputs ever tracked by Altmetric.
