What is it about?

This paper provides more accurate estimates of the participation rates of illegal drug consumption obtained from large scale survey data, taking into account the likely under-reporting of such.

Why is it important?

The paper provides techniques to adjust observed participation rates in illegal drugs from sample data for under-reporting. It is important that under-reporting is taken into account, as otherwise the true extent of the illegal drug taking problem would be masked.

Perspectives

This paper provides a general framework for handling mis-reporting in survey data, whilst also providing adjusted/true participation for cannabis, amphetamines and cocaine in Australia
