What is it about?
ATLAS is a global Big Science experiment based at CERN, Geneva, involving 3,500 particle physicists and technologists in 135 counties. they rely on each other to exchange knowledge to enable the discovery of the Higgs Boson. We interviewed scientists in Europe and China to see how they perceived their access to and influence on the ongoing experimental work.

Why is it important?
All multinational organizations, especially with an R&D facility, depend on the fast exchange of relevant knowledge across linguistic, cultural and geographical boundaries without drowning staff in intranet messages. What can be learnt from the ATLAS experiment about this?
Perspectives
I am especially pleased with my co-authors work. Their understanding of the Chinese culture and Amy's fluency in Mandarin allowed her to elicit some stunningly honest and frank perspectives from the Chinese scientists.
