Why is it important?
A single IV dose of dexamethasone administered at the induction of anesthesia is an effective, safe, and inexpensive treatment for reducing morbidities from pediatric tonsillectomy. Acupuncture has been reported to be useful in reducing early postoperative vomiting and attenuating postoperative pain. Acupuncture at P6 bilaterally and CV13 provided similar antiemetic effect to dexamethasone in children undergoing tonsillectomy
