What is it about?

This article examines the UK's increasingly fragmented system of public administration. The authors argue that this fragmentation is evident in the governance of places, the provision of public services, and the profession of public administration itself. The fragmented nature of UK public administration presents both challenges and opportunities but further research is needed to understand the long-term consequences of these trends and to identify strategies for mitigating the negative effects of fragmentation.
