What is it about?
Invertebrates are often not considered true decomposers, but rather the helpers of microbial decomposition. In this Tansley Insight, we argue that this view is an unhelpful simplification, explore the evidence that soil invertebrates are true decomposers and highlight their importance for soil processes and plant growth and success.
