What is it about?
Virus-infection of plants often affects plant-hormone pathways and in turn the interactions between plants and insect vectors, resulting in changes in fitness and viral transmission capacity of insect vectors. A literature review of virus-associated, plant hormone-mediated manipulation of plant-insect interactions revealed that research in this field has made significant progress but is still in its infancy. We discuss the complexity and variability of viral modulation of plant interactions with insect vectors and suggest future directions of research in this field.
