What is it about?

Strong genetic evidence shows that glutamate receptor-like channels (GLRs) are involved in long-distance electrical and calcium signaling. Despite this, the knowledge of how these channels are activated in the different plant tissues is limited. The parallelism with the activation of animal iGluR receptors is plausible, but not fully demonstrated, especially in the vascular tissues. Further research will be necessary to disentangle this dilemma.
