What is it about?
Recently, the essentiality of the element boron for plants was challenged and it was suggested that boron only plays a role in detoxifying phenolic compounds. We here re-examine experimental evidence and provide arguments, why boron is essential for vascular plant life and why its interaction with phenolics is probably not related to mitigation of toxicity.
