What is it about?
We propose a new method to measure sugar concentration of floral nectar based on fiber optic refractometer. It exploits the microscopic-size, low cost and biocompatibility of optical fibers to deliver light directly inside the flower. Biological validation proved that this method is precise and accurate also when the nectar is secreted in too small and unextractable quantities.

Why is it important?
We believe this method will boost data collection on sugar concentration of flower nectar aimed to ecology researches and to applied fields as honey production
