The role of leaf width and conductances to CO 2 in determining water use efficiency in C 4 grasses

What is it about?

We exploited the natural genetic and biochemical variation among C4 grasses to develop a mathematical approach for estimating the main limitations to photosynthesis that need to be optimized to increase intrinsic water use efficiency (iWUE) without yield penalty in C4 grasses and revealed the importance of leaf width to optimize iWUE in C4 crops.
