Autoimmunity and effector recognition in Arabidopsis thaliana can be uncoupled by mutations in the RRS1‐R immune receptor

What is it about?

Plant disease resistance is conferred by recognition of pathogens by plant NLR immune receptors. Undesired mutation in NLR genes can activate plant immunity (auto-immunity) in the absence of pathogen that can lead to reduced fitness. We show that auto-immunity and pathogen-triggered immunity can be uncoupled.
