What is it about?

We know plants much about leafs and flowers but much less about roots. Root characteristics are so diverse, and we aimed to explain what makes the diversity using 150 grassland species.

Why is it important?

Using machine learning, we unexpectedly discovered that seed weight determines some root characteristics the most out of about 100 variables. This discovery leads us to come up with one hypothesis why so, together with fungi that co-exist.
