What is it about?
Ranunculales, the sister group to all other eudicots, encompasses species with a remarkable floral diversity, including novel organs, changes in floral symmetry and number of floral organs. We present recent work on the molecular basis of these traits and discuss the opportunities that functional studies in Ranunculales can provide to learn about the evolution of floral traits.
