What is it about?
To identify proteins that bind to the inositol pyrophosphate 5-IP7, lysates prepared from amastigotes and epimastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi in the presence of magnesium ions or EDTA were incubated with a non-hydrolysable 5-IP7 analog or a control reagent. Eluted proteins were identified by mass spectrometry and GO-terms analysis was done for all the resultant dataset hits. Based on protein identification data, some targets were chosen for validation in vitro.
