What is it about?
Staphylococcus aureus is an important human pathogen that can survive and adapt its metabolism to the growth in various tissues. As part of this study, main glutamine and glutamine transporters were identified in S. aureus. It was further shown that glutamine but not glutamate uptake decreases the product of the essential signalling nucleotide c-di-AMP; thus linking the c-di-AMP signalling network with nitrogen metabolism in S. aureus.
