New AMP‐forming acid:CoA ligases from Streptomyces lividans , some of which are posttranslationally regulated by reversible lysine acetylation

What is it about?

Organic acids are energy-rich compounds that that are abundant in the soil environment. We identified several new enzymes that activate organic acids to their coenzyme A derivatives. Some of the new enzymes were reversibly acetylated at an active-site lysine to modulate their activity.
