What is it about?
Many bacterial strains have been reported to be innately resistant to the lantibiotic nisin via the expression of specific nisin resistance proteins (NSR). We use mutagenesis techniques to create nisin derivatives possessing enhanced resistance to proteolytic cleavage by the NSR.
