What is it about?
PhoP-mediated phosphate metabolism involves in both primary and secondary metabolisms. This work showed that PhoP in Saccharopolyspora erythraea can be enzymatically propionylated by acyltransferase AcuA on lysine 198 and 203 within HTH domain, impairing binding of PhoP to PHO box and thus inhibiting its regulatory activity responding to phosphate availability.
