What is it about?
Drug-tolerant cells that can tolerate bactericidal concentrations of drugs without genetic mutations. Here we show a novel regulatory pathway for controlling the formation of isoniazid-tolerant cells in Mycobacterium smegmatis.

Why is it important?
Novel transcriptional regulational machnism was determined in mycobacterial isoniazid tolerance: RbpA and σB association regulate ppk1 transcription to control contents of polyphosphate, and then modulate stress-induced tolerance in group and may function in tolerance of indiviral cell.
